We are very excited to announce that Kate Percy’s Go Faster Food has been named as the Healthy Eating Partner for Kathrine Switzer’s 261 Fearless Club UK, a non-profit women’s running community which is part of the global 261 Fearless network founded by running legend Kathrine Switzer.
For us it’s a perfect collaboration. I came across the organisation through my GP friend, Dr Juliet McGrattan, to whose wonderful book I recently contributed (Sorted, the Active Woman’s Guide to Health) and who is co-founder and director of 261 Fearless Club UK and the Women’s Health Lead for the global 261 Fearless Inc. Go Faster Food is all about inspiring active lifestyles and helping people to be the best versions of themselves. What I love about 261 Fearless is that it brings women of all running abilities together in a non-competitive, non-judgemental atmosphere. With no focus on pace or distance, the weekly club sessions use running as a vehicle to empower and unite women.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Go Faster Food” says Dr Juliet McGrattan, GP, co-founder, director of 261 Fearless Club UK and the Women’s Health Lead for the global 261 Fearless Inc. “We know how important a healthy, nutritious diet is for busy, active women. We share the Go Faster Food values of inspiring others to live better through example and education. We’re looking forward to working with Go Faster Food and enabling our community to fuel their activity with the real, delicious food that Go Faster Food champions”.
Within the club community, women are able to support, encourage and inspire each other towards a positive sense of self and fearlessness. Each club is led by trained 261 Coaches who are equipped with the skills to lead mixed ability groups and deliver female-specific training. The organisation is truly global, with women running together in 261 clubs all over the world, communicating on a dynamic, global, online platform and attending events together. The barriers of geography are being broken down and women are uniting under the symbol 261.
There are three 261 Clubs in the UK already and more coming next year.
Why the name 261 Fearless?
The number 261 was Kathrine Switzer’s bib number from the 1967 Boston Marathon where she was physically attacked by the race co-director, for officially registering and running in what was then considered a men-only race. She went on to complete the race and has since spent decades working as a champion and advocate for women’s running.
It’s fabulous for Go Faster Food to be part of this movement from the outset, and we look forward to working with the 261FearlessUK team and all the fantastic women as they join this wonderful community. We’ll be fuelling the runners with our Go Bites® energy balls, providing nutritional advice as well as delicious, energy-rich recipes, working with all the runners – from novice to elite.
